Core Principles & Analysis
Developed in the early 1950s, Ti-6Al-4V accounts for roughly half of all titanium alloy tonnage produced worldwide.
Aluminum stabilizes the alpha phase and vanadium the beta phase, letting heat treatment tune strength across the two-phase field.
Biocompatibility and fatigue resistance make it standard for hip stems, dental implants, jet-engine fan blades, and airframe fittings.
