Paraventricular Nucleus (PVN)

A nucleus in the hypothalamus involved in regulating stress responses, metabolism, reproduction, and producing vasopressin (ADH), oxytocin, and various releasing/inhibiting hormones.

Key Functions:

• Produces vasopressin (ADH) and oxytocin, released by the posterior pituitary.
• Secretes releasing and inhibiting hormones that control the anterior pituitary.
• Involved in stress responses (HPA axis) and autonomic regulation.
• Regulates feeding, metabolism, and reproduction.
