The anterior portion of the pituitary gland, which synthesizes and secretes a variety of hormones (e.g., GH, TSH, ACTH, FSH, LH, prolactin) under the control of the hypothalamus.
Key Functions:
- Synthesizes and secretes numerous tropic hormones.
- Controlled by releasing and inhibiting hormones from the hypothalamus.
- Regulates other endocrine glands and various physiological processes.
