Lymphocyte
A type of white blood cell (leukocyte) that plays a central role in adaptive immunity, including B-lymphocytes (antibody production) and T-lymphocytes (cell-mediated immunity).
Key Functions:
- Recognizes and targets specific pathogens or abnormal cells.
- Mediates adaptive immune responses.
- Includes B-lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes, and natural killer cells.
Interacting Systems & Components:
- White Blood Cell (type of)
- Immune System (key component of adaptive immunity)
- B-lymphocyte (type of)
- T-lymphocyte (type of)
