Erythrocyte
Also known as red blood cells, these anucleated cells are the most abundant blood cells, specialized for transporting oxygen from the lungs to tissues and carbon dioxide from tissues back to the lungs.
Key Functions:
- Transports oxygen using hemoglobin.
- Transports carbon dioxide (to a lesser extent).
- Lacks a nucleus and mitochondria in mature form.
