Sensory Neuron
Also known as afferent neurons, these neurons transmit sensory information from peripheral receptors (e.g., mechanoreceptors, photoreceptors) to the central nervous system.
Key Functions:
- Detects sensory stimuli (light, sound, touch, temperature, pain).
- Converts sensory input into electrical signals.
- Transmits signals from the periphery to the CNS.
