Trigeminal Nuclei

A complex of four nuclei in the brainstem (mesencephalic, main sensory, spinal, and motor) associated with the trigeminal nerve, processing sensory information from the face and controlling muscles of mastication.

Key Functions:

  • Processes sensory information (touch, pain, temperature, proprioception) from the face.
  • Controls muscles of mastication (chewing).
  • Involved in reflexes like jaw jerk reflex.
