A large nucleus located in the midbrain tegmentum, primarily involved in motor coordination, particularly of the upper limbs, and part of the rubrospinal tract.

  • Origin of the rubrospinal tract, involved in regulating muscle tone and posture.
  • Receives input from the cerebellum and cerebral cortex.
