Fastigial Nucleus
The most medial of the deep cerebellar nuclei, primarily involved in controlling balance, posture, and eye movements, and receives input from the vermis.
Key Functions:
- Controls axial and proximal limb muscles for balance and posture.
- Involved in eye movements and vestibulo-ocular reflex.
- Receives input from the vermis and projects to the vestibular nuclei and reticular formation.
Interacting Systems & Components:
- Cerebellum (deep cerebellar nucleus)
- Vermis (receives input from)
- Vestibular System (interacts with for balance)
- Reticular Formation (projects to)
- Balance and Posture (essential for)
