Fastigial Nucleus

The most medial of the deep cerebellar nuclei, primarily involved in controlling balance, posture, and eye movements, and receives input from the vermis.

Key Functions:

  • Controls axial and proximal limb muscles for balance and posture.
  • Involved in eye movements and vestibulo-ocular reflex.
  • Receives input from the vermis and projects to the vestibular nuclei and reticular formation.

Interacting Systems & Components:

  • Cerebellum (deep cerebellar nucleus)
  • Vermis (receives input from)
  • Vestibular System (interacts with for balance)
  • Reticular Formation (projects to)
  • Balance and Posture (essential for)
