Endocrine cells located in the anterior pituitary gland, responsible for synthesizing and secreting thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
Key Functions:
- Produces and secretes TSH.
- Stimulates the thyroid gland to produce and release thyroid hormones.
- Regulated by thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) from the hypothalamus.
