Chromophobe Pituitary Cell
A type of cell in the anterior pituitary gland that stains poorly with histological dyes, often representing degranulated chromophil cells or stem cells.
Key Functions:
- May represent inactive or degranulated hormone-secreting cells.
- Some may be stem cells or progenitor cells within the anterior pituitary.
- Their exact function is still under investigation.
