Corticotrophe
Endocrine cells located in the anterior pituitary gland, responsible for synthesizing and secreting adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
Key Functions:
- Produces and secretes ACTH.
- Stimulates the adrenal cortex to produce cortisol.
- Regulated by corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) from the hypothalamus.
