Golgi Apparatus (Organelle)
A stack of flattened membrane-bound sacs (cisternae) found in eukaryotic cells, involved in modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins and lipids synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum.
Key Functions:
- Modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids.
- Forms lysosomes and secretory vesicles.
- Plays a central role in cellular secretion and membrane trafficking.
Interacting Systems & Components:
- Organelle (type of)
- Endoplasmic Reticulum (receives proteins/lipids from)
- Lysosome (forms)
- Secretory Vesicle (forms)
