Delphinus (The Dolphin)
Small northern constellation of the dolphin that rescued a poet.
Core Principles & Analysis
It is one of Ptolemy's 48, a compact diamond of stars east of the Summer Triangle.
Its four main stars were long grouped as Job's Coffin, an asterism of unknown origin.
In Greek myth the dolphin carried the poet Arion to shore, and persuaded the sea god to woo Amphitrite.
