Total Sugars

Category: nutrient-panel

Aliases: Total Sugars, Sugars

Pharmacological Mechanism

The nutrition-panel measurand for all free mono- and disaccharides in a food — glucose, fructose, galactose, sucrose, lactose and maltose combined. It is a sum, not a single substance, so it says nothing about which sugars are present: apple juice is largely fructose, milk is lactose, and both report a Total Sugars figure. Where a source gives a per-sugar breakdown, this site records those individually instead.

Notes

Panel measurand rather than a single administered substance. Added when nutrient rows that reported this measurement were found filed under the slug of one specific species.
