Stellate Cell (Liver)
Also known as Ito cells, these perisinusoidal cells are found in the space of Disse in the liver, primarily involved in vitamin A storage and, when activated, in liver fibrosis.
Key Functions:
- Stores vitamin A in lipid droplets.
- Becomes activated during liver injury, transforming into myofibroblast-like cells.
- Produces extracellular matrix components, contributing to liver fibrosis.
