S Cell
A type of enteroendocrine cell found in the small intestine, primarily responsible for secreting secretin.
Key Functions:
- Secretes secretin in response to acidic chyme.
- Stimulates bicarbonate secretion from the pancreas.
- Helps regulate gastric emptying and intestinal pH.
