Secondary Oocyte
A haploid female gamete that results from the completion of meiosis I by a primary oocyte, which then proceeds to meiosis II and is arrested at metaphase II until fertilization.
Key Functions:
- Formed after completion of meiosis I.
- Arrested at metaphase II until fertilization.
- Upon fertilization, completes meiosis II to form a mature egg and a second polar body.
