Granulosa Cell
Cells surrounding the oocyte within ovarian follicles, playing a crucial role in oocyte development, steroid hormone production (estrogen), and supporting the growing follicle.
Key Functions:
- Produces estrogen (with theca cells).
- Nourishes the developing oocyte.
- Forms the cumulus oophorus around the oocyte.
- Responds to FSH and LH.
