Chief Cell (Gastric)
Also known as peptic cells, these glandular cells are located in the gastric glands of the stomach and are primarily responsible for synthesizing and secreting pepsinogen and gastric lipase.
Key Functions:
- Produces and secretes pepsinogen, a precursor to pepsin.
- Secretes gastric lipase, which aids in fat digestion.
- Located in the fundus and body of the stomach.
