Chemically ion-exchanged damage-resistant display glass.

Core Principles & Analysis

• The glass is strengthened in a molten potassium salt bath near 400 °C, where large potassium ions replace sodium and wedge the surface into compression.
• The ion-exchange process descends from Corning's 1960s 'Project Muscle', which produced the ultra-strong Chemcor glass.
• Gorilla Glass has shipped on more than eight billion smartphones, tablets, and other devices since its 2007 debut.
