Pharmacological Mechanism

Allylamine antifungal — squalene epoxidase inhibitor blocking ergosterol synthesis upstream of CYP51. Highly lipophilic + keratin-binding → systemic dosing for onychomycosis (~3 month course). Strong CYP2D6 inhibitor (DDI with antidepressants, β-blockers).
