Pharmacological Mechanism

Metabolite of melanotan-II with MC4R-preferential activity (reduces MC1R/tanning effects). Activates MC4R in PVN → pro-sexual CNS signalling that works via a central rather than peripheral vascular mechanism (unlike PDE5 inhibitors). FDA-approved for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women; off-label research use in men.
