Aliases: Mg taurate, Magnesium ditaurate
Mg²⁺ chelated to two taurine molecules. McCarty's 1996 hypothesis article articulated the combined CV-protective rationale: Mg blocks NMDA-receptor Ca²⁺ channels and supports endothelial Ca²⁺ handling, while taurine is an osmolyte / membrane stabiliser with mild BP-lowering and anti-arrhythmic activity of its own. Rodent hypertension models (Shrivastava 2019) show the chelate attenuates cadmium-induced hypertension and cardiotoxicity. Human RCT evidence remains sparse relative to Mg glycinate / citrate.
