Aliases: 3,5,7,3′,4′,5′-hexahydroxyflavylium
Hexahydroxy B-ring anthocyanidin — the most oxidised of the six common anthocyanidins. The three adjacent B-ring hydroxyls make it unstable at neutral pH and highly susceptible to colonic microbial ring-fission. Plasma F of free delphinidin is <0.1%; systemic exposure is dominated by phloroglucinaldehyde, syringic / gallic acid, and other microbial phenolic metabolites, which mediate most of the vascular and metabolic effects in humans. VEGFR2 and KDR tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (rationale for anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor interest).
