Parafollicular Cell (C Cell)

Neuroendocrine cells located in the thyroid gland, adjacent to the follicular cells, that produce and secrete calcitonin, involved in calcium homeostasis.

• Produces and secretes Calcitonin.
• Lowers blood calcium levels.
• Inhibits osteoclast activity.
• Part of the thyroid gland.
