Macula Densa Cell

Specialized chemoreceptor cells in the distal convoluted tubule of the kidney, sensing sodium chloride concentration and regulating renin release.

• Senses sodium chloride concentration in renal tubule fluid.
• Regulates Renin secretion from juxtaglomerular cells.
• Contributes to tubuloglomerular feedback, regulating GFR.
