JavaScript

The language of the web browser, written in ten days in 1995 and now running on nearly every page on the internet.

Core Principles & Analysis

• Brendan Eich prototyped it at Netscape in ten days in May 1995.
• Java and JavaScript are unrelated; the name was a marketing co-ride on Java's hype.
• Node.js carried it onto servers, making it the only language native to both browser and backend.
