Bohrium is a synthetic chemical element named after Danish physicist Niels Bohr.

Bohrium was convincingly synthesized in 1981 at GSI Darmstadt by Peter Armbruster and Gottfried Muenzenberg's team using 'cold fusion' of chromium-54 with bismuth-209.
Named for Niels Bohr, it was originally proposed as 'nielsbohrium'; IUPAC shortened the name to bohrium in 1997, and its longest-lived known isotopes survive on the order of a minute.
A 2000 experiment with 17-second bohrium-267 atoms produced the volatile oxychloride BhO3Cl, matching technetium and rhenium and confirming bohrium as a true group-7 element.
