Lynx (The Lynx)

Faint northern constellation of the lynx, so dim its creator said only lynx-eyed observers would find it.

Core Principles & Analysis

• Hevelius created it in 1687, saying only the lynx-eyed would find anything in so dim a region.
• The globular cluster NGC 2419, the "Intergalactic Wanderer", lies far beyond most of the Milky Way's globulars.
• Its stars are scattered and faint, and most observers never see the figure at all.
