Demonstrated in 1991 with laser-cooled sodium atoms using the mechanical effects of stimulated Raman transitions.
Interference was observed for matter-wave packets separated by as much as 2.4 mm.
Acting as an inertial sensor, it measured the acceleration of a sodium atom due to gravity with a resolution of 3×10⁻⁶ after 1000 s of integration time.
