• A justly tuned perfect fifth has an exact 3:2 frequency ratio and produces no audible beats.
• Its pure 5:4 major third is about 14 cents narrower than the equal-tempered third.
• Fixed-pitch instruments cannot play justly in every key, which drove the adoption of tempered tunings.
