Subthalamus

A small region of the diencephalon, ventral to the thalamus, containing the subthalamic nucleus, which is a key part of the basal ganglia circuit.

Key Functions:

• Houses the subthalamic nucleus.
• Involved in regulating motor control as part of the basal ganglia.
• Plays a role in inhibiting movements.
