Pharmacological Mechanism

Most potent IV bisphosphonate — once-yearly infusion for osteoporosis (Reclast) or every 3-4 weeks for malignancy-related bone lesions / hypercalcemia of malignancy (Zometa). Acute-phase reaction + osteonecrosis of jaw + atypical femoral fractures are class concerns at chronic use.
