Pharmacological Mechanism

5-lipoxygenase inhibitor — blocks leukotriene biosynthesis upstream of CysLT1 receptor. Asthma maintenance; less used than montelukast. CYP1A2 inhibitor (raises theophylline + propranolol). Hepatotoxicity warning requires LFT monitoring.
