Pharmacological Mechanism

5-HT1B/1D agonist — constricts cranial blood vessels and inhibits trigeminal nerve neuropeptide release. First-line abortive migraine therapy. Coronary vasoconstriction concern in CAD. SC formulation has fastest onset (~10 min).
