Flavonolignan in the silymarin complex; second-most abundant after silybin. Inhibits MCT8 (monocarboxylate transporter 8) → thyroid hormone uptake interference (Johannes 2016 — potentially relevant for AHDS patients). Otherwise similar hepatoprotective profile to silybin.
