Pharmacological Mechanism

Inhaled fluorinated ether anesthetic — mechanism likely via GABA-A potentiation + glycine receptor + voltage-gated K+ channel modulation. Low blood-gas partition coefficient → rapid induction + emergence. Workhorse for pediatric mask induction; less pungent than isoflurane.
