Selank

Category: peptide

Aliases: TP-7 (tuftsin analog)

Pharmacological Mechanism

N-terminal addition of Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg (tuftsin) + C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro stabilisation. Enhances BDNF expression, modulates enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and activates GABA-A without direct benzodiazepine-site binding. Anxiolytic without sedation or addiction potential (Russian trial data).

Half-Life (t½)

IN: 0.1h, SC: 0.2h

Notes

Heptapeptide (TKPRPGP) — tritium-tracer biodegradation studies (Zolotarev 2006) report rapid clearance (plasma t½ ~6-12 min). Effective duration in humans far exceeds plasma residence (downstream metabolites + epigenetic effects on BDNF / enkephalin pathways are PD, not PK). IN F is conservative; SC F treated as ≈1.0 for depot absorption.
