Pharmacological Mechanism

Synthetic glucocorticoid prodrug — converted to active prednisolone by hepatic 11β-HSD1. ~4× the glucocorticoid potency of cortisol with reduced mineralocorticoid effect. Workhorse of inflammatory + autoimmune therapy.
