Pharmacological Mechanism
Anti-pseudomonal penicillin (piperacillin) + β-lactamase inhibitor (tazobactam). Workhorse empiric IV for hospital-acquired pneumonia + intra-abdominal infections + febrile neutropenia. Synergy with aminoglycosides for severe Pseudomonas infections.
