Influenza neuraminidase inhibitor prodrug — hydrolyzed to active oseltamivir carboxylate by hepatic carboxylesterase. Blocks release of newly assembled virions from infected respiratory epithelial cells. Modest symptom-duration reduction (~1 day) when started <48h from symptom onset.
