Pharmacological Mechanism

Nitroimidazole — anaerobic bacteria + protozoa reduce the nitro group to a cytotoxic radical that fragments DNA. Disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol. Modest CYP3A4 inhibition raises warfarin INR.
