Pharmacological Mechanism

Oxazolidinone — binds 23S rRNA of bacterial 50S subunit blocking 70S initiation complex formation. Active against MRSA + VRE. Reversible MAO inhibition → serotonin syndrome risk with SSRIs. Bone marrow suppression at courses > 14 days.
