Monoterpene from citrus peel essential oil. Reduces gastro-esophageal reflux — mechanism proposed to involve gastric mucosal coating + modest pH buffering + prokinetic effect on lower esophageal sphincter. Metabolised by CYP2C9/CYP2C19 to perillic acid (detectable urinary metabolite). Aromatherapy research on anxiety is preliminary.
