Synthetic progestin — strong progestational + weak androgenic activity. Backbone of combined oral contraceptives, the LNG-IUD (Mirena), and emergency contraception (Plan B One-Step) where high-dose interferes with ovulation timing. CYP3A4 substrate (induction lowers efficacy).
