Pharmacological Mechanism

Topical vitamin C at 10–20% pH < 3.5 (the pH where the protonated form penetrates stratum corneum). Cofactor for prolyl/lysyl hydroxylases → collagen synthesis support; antioxidant on UV-induced ROS. Stabilization (oxidation to dehydroascorbate) is the formulation challenge.
