Pharmacological Mechanism

Linear GAG, major component of synovial fluid + ECM. Viscosupplementation theory (IA injection) + anti-inflammatory CD44 signalling. PO oral bioavailability debated but multiple RCTs show modest knee-OA improvement at 80–200 mg/day over 8+ weeks. Dermal filler (crosslinked) separate product class.
