GBL

Category: pharmacological

Aliases: gamma-butyrolactone, GBL

Pharmacological Mechanism

γ-butyrolactone, an industrial solvent and a prodrug rapidly hydrolyzed by serum lactonase to GHB — giving faster onset and higher effective potency than equivalent GHB. Same GABA-B-mediated CNS depression and the same narrow, dangerous dose-response.
