Pharmacological Mechanism

Loop diuretic — inhibits Na+/K+/2Cl- cotransporter (NKCC2) in thick ascending limb of loop of Henle. Most potent class of diuretic; cornerstone of CHF / pulmonary edema management. Ototoxicity at high IV bolus doses.
